I hope you are having a great week! This past Saturday was my 29th birthday (I feel so old!). Since I was still sick, we decided to stay in and celebrate with my family, which was really nice. My family got me a cake and some really thoughtful gifts of things they knew I was needing, so that was really sweet of them!
My husband has something special planned for my birthday this coming weekend, so I knew I was in need of a cute modest dress to wear for the occasion. I couldn’t go out shopping, so I did some browsing online to see what I could find, and thought I would put together a post of the cute modest dresses I came across for anyone else who might be looking. I know how hard it can be to find modest dress options in the midst of high-rise slits and low-cut necklines, even in the winter.
Keep in mind that what I consider to be modest for me may not be modest for you, but I did try to mostly include dresses that I felt would pass the “modesty test.” As Muslims, we know the level of modesty required by Islam that we should aspire to achieve, but every girl is at a different stage in her modest fashion journey. I, for example, still wear short sleeves in the summer, and will wear dresses or skirts as long as they fall past my knee. And while the modest fashion police still may come for me, I have definitely come a long way and I am proud of that.
When I am shopping, what I try to look for are pieces that are long, non-sheer, and that have relatively high necklines, loose fits, and little to no slits if possible, but that can be really hard to come by, especially all in one dress! So, I did my best to include as many options as possible that do have most or all of those things, or that could be easily modified otherwise. Some options have a slit or low v-neck, but are a looser fit, so you can just add a pin or sew the slit without it being obvious or ruining the form of the dress. For the more form-fitting options, layering the dress with a loose, long cardigan or jacket would do the trick and be stylish too!
